Am I Eligible for the Veterans Readiness and Employment Program?

To be eligible for benefits under veteran readiness and employment, you must meet one of the following criteria:

• A Veteran with a combined service-connected disability (SCD) rating of at least 20 percent or higher, and fulfills the conditions for an employment handicap.
• A Veteran with a combined SCD rating of 10 percent and satisfies the requirements for a serious employment handicap.
• A Servicemember awaiting discharge due to a medical condition resulting from a serious injury or illness during active duty. (Entitlement is automatic based on military service documentation, not on a VA disability rating or memorandum rating.)
• A Servicemember awaiting discharge, holding a VA memorandum rating of 20 percent or more, and anticipating an honorable discharge upon separation from active duty.

It’s important to note that a Veteran’s character of discharge must be other than dishonorable, including general discharge, honorable discharge, and under honorable conditions.
