John enlisted in the United States Air Force shortly after his 18th birthday where he became a medic. After his honorable discharge, John continued in the medical field, becoming a Registered Nurse and working in Critical Care and Emergency Departments where his experience gave him insight into the chain of causation for medical problems.
John earned his Juris Doctor degree from Duquesne University School of Law, and, upon passing the bar, opened his own practice representing clients in personal injury, criminal defense and family law matters. He later joined Eckert Seamans, where he worked on medical device defense litigation cases, gaining an in-depth understanding of how medical products can cause injury.
John has always felt the need to give back to his fellow Veterans, remembering when he was injured on active duty but never informed of any potential benefits until meeting with his local veteran’s office to get a copy of his DD Form 214. Like so many Veterans, when John did file for benefits, his initial rating was inappropriately low, and he had to fight on appeal for an increase. Ultimately, John decided the best way to help other Veterans going through similar experiences was to join Jackson & MacNichol, a firm with a reputation for success before the Board of Veterans’ Appeals.
