John MacDonald

John MacDonaldJohn is a native of Tempe, Arizona, and yet is no stranger to crossing the map in pursuit of new experiences and achievements. During high school, John dove head-first into his German classes, and also served as a Student Delegate representing his hometown in a Sister Cities exchange with the city of Skopje, North Macedonia.

John then earned his B.A. in New Media Communications from Oregon State University, and subsequently began work back in Arizona as a Social Media Marketing Specialist with a multistate operator in the medical cannabis sector, where he developed and honed his interest in explaining medical discoveries and legal developments to a population seeking improved health, compassion, and understanding.

As John’s career and interests developed, he made the decision to attend the University of Maine School of Law beginning in fall of 2020, and graduated in spring of 2023. During this time, he proudly served as a Student Attorney with the Refugee and Human Rights Clinic, and held leadership positions in both the Student Bar Association and the LGBTQ+ Law and Policy Group.

John first began work with Jackson & MacNichol as a summer intern in 2021, and was immediately intrigued in the underlying subject matter of veterans law, as well as its procedure and structure within the federal court system. He strives to always keep learning and developing his insights as he hears the stories of those who seek his aid, and to creatively advocate for their needs and well-being.

Outside of the office, John can be found in front of a loud amplifier with an electric guitar slung over his shoulder, at the gym circling a punching bag, or in his kitchen, hovering proudly over a simmering pot of anything spicy, ready to feed and impress family and friends.
