“I’ve always viewed the law as a tool with which people can improve the quality of their lives. For me, that’s the most compelling part of law practice, being able to help people in that process.” That principle has guided Walter (who also goes by “Jim”) Morse’s career from his first year of law school, and continues to do so here at Jackson & MacNichol.
While at Maine Law, Jim volunteered extensively with the Volunteer Lawyers Project, which helps low income Mainers with a wide range of civil legal matters. Jim was recognized by the VLP in 2011 for his contribution to their work. While in school Jim also worked with Pine Tree Legal Assistance and the Immigration Legal Assistance Project. After his admission to the Maine Bar, Jim’s work included child protection and family matters in a solo practice, and helping older Mainers with a full range of civil legal matters at Legal Services for the Elderly.
Now at Jackson & MacNichol, Jim is happy to be able to continue using the law to help those in real need obtain the Social Security benefits that they deserve. And as a U.S. Army veteran, he looks forward to helping other veterans successfully navigate the VA disability process.
Jim enjoys reading, film, homebrewing, and being outdoors in Maine, but his spare time is most happily spent in the company of his wife and daughter doing anything at all.
