Petra M. Lee, a New Jersey native, moved with her family to Maine in 2007. In 2010, she began pursuing her legal career at Husson University, from which she graduated summa cum laude in 2014. That fall, Petra attended the University of Maine School of Law as a member of the class of 2017. While attending law school, Petra had the opportunity to explore different areas of public interest law through service to several organizations. She completed an externship with the Immigrant Legal Advocacy Project (ILAP), where she spent a semester advocating for asylum seekers in Maine. In the summer of 2016, she was employed as a Law Clerk for the firm of Jackson & MacNichol, where she assisted attorneys who were advocating for disabled Veterans of the United States Military. Petra continued working for Jackson & MacNichol throughout her third year of law school, while also working as a Student Attorney for the Cumberland Legal Aid Clinic. There, she was able to advocate for Maine immigrants at the Refugee and Human Rights Clinic, and gain experience in family law, criminal law, juvenile law, and protection from abuse proceedings in the General Practice Clinic.
After graduating from the University of Maine School of Law, Petra continued her work in public interest law as an attorney at Maine Community Law Center, where she represented clients of modest means in the areas of family law, criminal law, child-protective law, and protection from abuse matters. In December of 2018, she returned to the firm of Jackson & MacNichol to practice Veterans Law. Her passion for advocating for disabled veterans stems from her deep respect for her family members who served in World War II and Vietnam, as well as her husband, a veteran of the United States Navy.
When not working, Petra enjoys going on road trips with her family, reading, writing, and performing music with her husband.
